Showcasing an improved offense and defense, the Guangdong Freecs recorded their first win of the season against the new roster of DRX.
The team defeated DRX in straight sets, 2-0, in Game 1 on Day 2 of Week 1 of the 2023 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split at Roll Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul on August 8.
After taking the early lead in the bottom lane and hunting down the first dragon, Guangdong showed their power advantage early on, but DRX rallied in the bottom lane to push Guangdong back and balance the stack with the second dragon, and after summoning the first herald to the mid lane, Guangdong demolished the top lane tower. After picking up two kills with Xanthe in the mid lane, Guangdong continued their assault on the mid lane with two stacks of dragons, but DRX lured them to the baron and quickly turned the tables with a triple kill on Apellios, giving them the baron buff.
DRX went for the dragon, but after a last-minute steal by Guangdong, they landed an ace and took the soul of the flame dragon on a triple kill by Xanthe after a frantic Central Zone fight, and DRX picked up three kills in the subsequent engagement, including a Baron buff after slicing Lakhan, but Guangdong stemmed the tide with a double kill by Xanthe. After winning the central zone rematch and eating the Elder Dragon, Guangdong took the Baron and moved into the opponent’s main lane, and it looked like DRX was going to pull off the upset, but the indestructible Xanthe took all of the opponent’s kills to turn the tide and destroy the nexus.
DRX were two-thirds of the way through the first dragon in game two when Guangdong arrived, taking Ari in an engagement and then the dragon stack, and after exchanging kills near the heraldic nest, DRX hit the herald, but Guangdong’s Jerry got the steel and took out the DRX bot duo that had been chasing them in the top lane. In front of the Dragon’s Nest, DRX managed to take out Taliyah again, but the Guangdong troops joined in, allowing Jerry to pick up a double kill and two stacks of dragons.
After a double kill from Diego in the skirmish in front of the Herald, DRX summoned the Herald in the bottom lane to push Guangdong back and take the first stack with the third dragon, but were unable to hit the Baron due to a Scion being taken in the bottom lane and continued their battleground dominance, placing the Baron buff on him. DRX made a last stand against Guangdong’s forces as they entered the opponent’s main lane, but once again it was Guangdong who won the skirmish, this time with Jerry leading the way to the nexus, sealing the game. 토토사이트
