Reporter Oh Sang-jin = Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team (Coach Kim Jong-chul) beat Bucheon Youth Baseball Team (Coach Kang Jung-min) 7-1 in the final of the “2nd Gapyeong County Governor’s Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament” in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.
Organized by the Korea Youth Baseball Federation, the tournament was heated for five days, including weekends from September 2 to 11, with a total of 2,000 players and parents from 97 teams participating.

The tournament was held in a tournament manner, and they competed for a total of six championship cups, including the Sprout League (U-9), the Dream Tree League (U-11), the Youth League (U-13), and the Junior League (U-16).
The final was an interesting final match between Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team (U-13) and Bucheon City Youth Baseball Team (Coach Kang Jung-min), which advanced to the final for the first time in nine years.
In the top of the first inning, the Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team allowed hits to opponents Yoo Yi-chan (mountain school 1st) and Kim Tae-yoon (mountain school 1st) of Bucheon City Youth Baseball Team, but scored with Na Hyo-min’s second and third base steals and home steals in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game.
After two outs in the bottom of the third inning, Hwang Ha-gyeom’s walk and No Eun-chan’s (Cheongram Elementary School 6) led 2-1 with the opposing pitcher Bock in the second and third bases, and won the first place in the fifth inning.
Cho Bae-sung (Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team, Haewon Elementary School 6), Kim Tae-yoon (Gyeonggi Bucheon City Youth Baseball Team, San Middle School 1), and Na Hyo-hyun (Incheon City Youth Baseball Team) won the tournament with a batting average of 0.637 and four wins as pitchers.
Cho Bae-sung (Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team, Haewon Elementary School 6), who was honored as the MVP of the tournament, said, “I’m so happy to strike out in the last inning. I think I was rewarded with winning the championship for the results of my hard training. It’s such an honor to receive the best player award and I’d like to thank the coach for his hard training. “The role model is SSG Kim Kwang-hyun, and I like the fast ball and breaking balls that are well controlled because they look so cool,” he said.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of its foundation,” said Kim Jong-chul, head coach of the Incheon Seo-gu Youth Baseball Team, who won the tournament’s coach award. The lower-grade leagues, including the Dream Tree League, have won several times, and it is more meaningful because it is the first time to win the strongest league.
