Sungkyunkwan University defeats Sangmyung University, led by Kim Yoon-sung.
Sungkyunkwan University defeated Sangmyung University 67-46 in the 2023 KUSF University Basketball U-League at Sangmyung University’s Cheonan Campus Gymnasium on Nov. 26. With the win, Sungkyunkwan moved into a tie for fifth place with a 5-5 record, while Sangmyung remained in 11th place with a 1-8 record.
Kim Yoon-seong led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds. Lee Hyun-ho added 11 points. For Sangmyung University, Kwon Soon-woo scored 16 points, but the team fell short.
In a tense first quarter, Sungkyunkwan University took the lead after a three-point play by Kim Yoon-sung. Noh Wan-ju and Park Jong-ha then added to the lead as Sungkyunkwan extended their lead. With the momentum in their favor, Sungkyunkwan scored nine straight points in the middle of the quarter to quickly take a double-digit lead. The first quarter ended with Sungkyunkwan leading 22-13.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Sangmyung University tried to catch up with back-to-back three-pointers, but Sungkyunkwan University steadily maintained its lead after Kim Yoon-sung’s basket stopped the flow. Sungkyunkwan scored eight straight points, including a free throw by Lee Hyun-ho at the end of the quarter, to end the half with a 40-26 lead.
In the second half, Sungkyunkwan University continued to run away whenever Sangmyung University tried to catch up. Trailing by nine points in the middle of the third quarter, Sungkyunkwan widened the gap again as Kim Yoon-sung controlled the floor perfectly.
After finishing the third quarter with a score of 54-35, Sungkyunkwan University continued its lead in the fourth quarter. After allowing the opponent to catch up with them by scoring just one point in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, Sungkyunkwan University regained the lead with a fastbreak basket by Lee Hyun-ho and went on to record the final 67-46 victory 스포츠토토.
